Two men were shot in Brockton Friday night, and one of them arrested, after a drug deal went awry, police said.
Cousins John Intakoun and Rouin Tilithda, both 23 of Brockton, allegedly tried to sell a pound of marijuana for $3,000 cash to two individuals at an abandoned house on Taber Avenue when a fight broke out, Brockton police Sergeant James Baroud said.
Tilithda was shot in the stomach, while Intakoun was hit in the calf, Baroud said. Police are investigating who fired the shots, and Baroud said detectives have a lead on the shooting suspect, but declined to reveal more.
Intakoun put Tilithda into a car and started driving erratically to a hospital, not stopping for police who tried to pull him over, police Sergeant Mark Celia said.
Officer Elisa Fontes observed Intakoun stopping the car to hide a 9-millimeter semi-automatic handgun before continuing to drive to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, Baroud said. He added that Fontes also discovered a pound of marijuana in the vehicle.
Tilithda, who was critically injured, was taken to a hospital in Boston by MedFlight, and Baroud said Saturday evening that he has no updates about his condition. Intakoun was treated and released from Signature Healthcare.
Police charged Intakoun with possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, and illegal possession of a firearm. He is to be arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court. Tilithda has not been charged.Gal Tziperman Lotan can be reached at email@example.com.
