A woman who died Sunday morning after being caught in the surf on a beach in Provincetown has been identified as a New York resident who frequently visited the town for leisure, officials said.
Donna L. Pawlowski, 51, of Rexford, N.Y., was found dead on the beach near Race Point Lighthouse in Provincetown at about 9 a.m. Sunday, police said.
“Preliminary investigation would suggest it was an accidental death,” said Cape & Islands First Assistant District Attorney Michael Trudeau. “However, the investigation remains open pending an autopsy.”
Pawlowski was visiting Provincetown with family at the time of her death. She frequently traveled to Cape Cod for leisure, Trudeau said.
No further details were immediately available.
