Canadians know how to party. Especially Canadians who work in biotech. We know this because our northern neighbors were out in numbers on Tuesday night during a cocktail reception for those in town for the BIO International Convention, which runs through Thursday at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Revelers at BIOTECanada’s party at the Liberty Hotel event included Canada's Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner Maurice Egan and Stephen Hurwitz, who deals with cross-border issues at law firm Choate, Hall and Stewart. Canadian constables April Weston and Dal Hutchinson were on the scene in uniform to greet guests. ... One night before the hotel hosted the Canadians, the Liberty opened its doors to the Over My Shoulder Foundation, an organization that promotes mentoring. The celebration, which drew 300 guests, featured lawyer (and former Charles Street Jail inmate) Rick Dyer honoring former Gov. Michael Dukakis for helping him turn his life around, and performances by Over My Shoulder founder and Grammy winner Patti Austin.
