Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen sell Beacon Street condo for $9.2 million

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen have sold their Beacon Street condo for a cool $9.2 million. The MLS listing for 310 Beacon shows that the new owner closed on the place on Friday after it had been on the market for 254 days. The condo had been listed at $10.5 million. Gibson Sotheby’s real estate agent Allison Mazer handled the sale. We hear that the couple’s belongings were cleared out of the condo early last week. No word yet on who will live in the unit — according to a representative at the Suffolk Registry of Deeds, the buyer is Avery Bicentennial Corp. — but we do know from the listing that the new owner will have a “sumptuous master suite with marble bath,” six fireplaces, a “roofdeck with sky kitchen,” and a “his/her dressing room” fit for, well, a supermodel. Avery Bicentennial already owns other units in the building, according to the rep at the Registry. Zillow Chief Marketing Officer Amy Bohutinsky tells us that Brady did fairly well on the sale of the property — but could have done better. She said, via email, “Homes sold in the Back Bay in May went for about 2 percent under asking price, according to the Zillow Real Estate Market Reports. So the reported price of $9.2 million is a deeper discount than most buyers in the neighborhood are getting.” She said that that the Tom and Gisele’s celebrity status doesn’t necessarily boost the value of the property. “It’s hard to say whether a celebrity seller can make a home sell for more. ... We’ve seen and reported on countless celebrities who have to reduce the asking price of their home before it finds a buyer. TThis may have been the case for Tom and Gisele. This was the second attempt the NFL quarterback took at selling the Beacon Street home, after a failed transaction in 2009.” Karen Pevenstein, who lives on Beacon Street, told us yesterday that Brady and Bundchen have been good and friendly neighbors. She said that you could always tell when Bundchen was out and about, even if she was far away or wearing a hat. “Nobody else really looks like her.” Pevenstein said that over the years, passersby and tourists sometimes stopped in front of 310 Beacon to get a picture of Brady’s pad. She admitted that she’ll miss having the celebs on her block. “I will miss being able to say, ‘I live across the street from Tom Brady,’ or, depending on your audience, ‘Gisele.’” Brady and Gisele aren’t without property at the moment: the couple recently built a $20 million mansion in Brentwood, CA (you know, the one with the lagoon-shaped pool), and we hear that they’re still renting in the Back Bay. ... In other Brady news, the Rodman Ride for Kids announced on Monday that No. 12 will serve as the organization’s honorary chair this year. The charity ride benefits at-risk kids in Massachusetts.
