The Hollywood Reporter this week published a lengthy profile of Acton-Marshfield-bred actor Steve Carell, who just finished shooting “The Way, Way Back” here. The story reports Carell is impossibly nice, and quotes Tina Fey saying of her “Date Night” costar: “He worked a long time before he broke through, and that makes a huge difference.” Of his nice-guy status, Carell says, “It’s not like I want to put sunshine and lollipops into the world. But I do believe there’s been a turn toward an uber-cynical point of view, and it’s borderline mean.” “The Way, Way Back” wrapped last weekend with a party for cast and crew at a Marshfield beach house owned by the Tedeschi clan. We’re told Carell and costar Toni Collette were not there, but actors Rob Corddry and Allison Janney and codirectors Nat Faxon and Jim Rash were.
