Bobby Brown back in rehab

A rep for Bobby Brown confirms that the Roxbury-bred singer has checked himself into rehab. Brown’s spokesman said in an e-mail that the New Edition singer entered a ‘‘confidential rehabilitation center’’ last week as part of a court agreement after his drunken driving arrest last March. (His publicist said Brown’s plea deal requires him to get treatment for alcohol use.) Meanwhile, Brown’s attorney Christopher Brown said in a statement that the 43-year-old singer, who has struggled with alcohol off and on for years, ‘‘takes his agreement very seriously.’’ It’s been a year of ups and down for Brown. He released his first new CD in 14 years and also married – and had a baby with — his manager Alicia Etheredge . But last spring, Brown’s ex-wife, singer Whitney Houston, died suddenly, and he has a complicated relationship with their daughter, Bobbi Kristina . TMZ caught up with Bobbi at LAX this week, and asked if her father is rising above his alcohol problem. “ ‘Rise above’ is not the word you should use,” she said. “Not at all.”
