Not only are his beloved Red Sox stumbling through their worst season in more than a decade, but Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” may not be coming to a screen near you after all. Deadline.com reported Tuesday that Warner Bros. has decided not to adapt the best-selling series by the Bangor-based author. The project was set to include three films and a couple of TV miniseries, with Ron Howard apparently interested in directing the first film. Oscar winners Russell Crowe and Javier Bardem were both attached at one point. Deadline.com points out that Warner Bros. is not alone in turning down the project. NBC/Universal previously balked because of the enormity of the project.
