Matt Damon and John Krasinski will release their new drama, “Promised Land,” on Dec. 28. That’s pretty soon, considering that the Massachusetts-bred duo — who co-wrote and costar in the movie — just finished filming it in Pennsylvania this spring. “Promised Land” features Damon as a gas company salesman who tries to win over small town locals to get drilling rights to their properties. It was directed by Gus Van Sant, who, of course, helmed Damon’s Boston classic, “Good Will Hunting.” The release date means that “Promised Land” will qualify for Oscar season.
