Showcase Live, the concert space at Patriot Place, is closing at the end of the year, according to musicians affiliated with the venue. Bands that were supposed to have 2013 gigs at the hall have received an e-mail informing them that the venue’s last show will be in December, they said. Reps from Showcase Live could not be reached on Sunday, but Debbie Blanchard, who manages blues musician Ronnie Earl, told us that the closing was confirmed to her in an e-mail from the venue’s booking agency. Earl was offered a gig on Dec. 29 to replace what would have been a 2013 show. “We took it real fast,” Blanchard said of Earl, who’s played Showcase Live twice before. Showcase Live has hosted acts such as En Vogue, Girl Talk, Los Lobos, and Dierks Bentley over the years, but many of its concerts feature cover bands like Almost Queen, which will play with the AC/DC tribute act Dirty Deeds on New Year’s Eve.
