Action for Boston Community Development, the antipoverty agency better known as ABCD celebrated it 50th anniversary with a bash at the Marriott Copley Place that featured a performance by Natalie Cole and a talk by Mark Shriver, son of the late Sargent Shriver and VP with Save the Children. Guests included Sox CEO Larry Lucchino and wife Stacey, 28 Degrees owner Bill Emery, and the evening’s emcee, Channel 5’s Bianca de la Garza. In all, more than 1,200 people attended and heard Cole sing “Unforgettable,” “Autumn Leaves,” and other favorites . . . Talk-show host Conan O’Brien was kicking back at the Bristol Lounge Saturday . . . The Celtics’s home opener didn’t turn out as we hoped, but it wasn’t for a lack of support from the likes of Pats safety Patrick Chung, Sox players Ryan Kalish and David Ortiz, and funny fellow Larry David and friend, nightlife nabob Patrick Lyons. . . . After Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte tweeted that he was at the Emerald Lounge at the Revere Hotel, one female admirer showed up to see him but was turned away because her sweatpants and sneakers didn’t meet the dress code. Joined by four females, Lochte was living large, enjoying Moet champagne, Johnny Walker Black on the rocks, and duck spring rolls. . . . Pats receiver Brandon Lloyd and Pittsfield-bred actress Elizabeth Banks were among the beautiful people at the Breeders’ Cup World Championships in Arcadia, Calif. Saturday.
