A day after visiting Edith Wharton’s Berkshires abode, The Mount, Julian Fellowes was at the Harvard Club in Back Bay where he was presented with The Mount’s 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award. (Since 1996, the Wharton estate has been honoring individuals who are masters in their fields, a group that includes Martin Scorsese, Eudora Welty, Alice Munro, and Brooke Astor.) In addition to creating “Downton Abbey,” Fellowes won an Oscar for his screenplay for Robert Altman’s film “Gosford Park.”
