Orr and Sanderson still light up a room

Friends and former Bruins teammates Bobby Orr and Derek Sanderson had a few laughs at an event hosted this week by Baystate Wealth Management. (Sanderson is heading up a new division of BWM focused on investment services for professional athletes.) “Turk,” as Sanderson was known in his playing days, has written a memoir, “Crossing the Line,” and is the subject of a biopic being produced by Ed Burns. Asked about the state of the National Hockey League these days, he had this to say: “Some of the franchises are struggling. Get rid of the weak franchises and you’ll have a deeper, more talented league.” We’d be satisfied if they just played a game or two. . . . There was a Daisuke Matsuzaka sighting Thursday. The Sox pitcher lunched at Legal Sea Foods in Chestnut Hill. . . . Huffington Post president Arianna Huffington paid a visit to the MassChallenge offices before speaking to the Massachusetts Conference for Women at the Boston Convention Center. . . . Cellist Yo-Yo Ma and New York City Ballet star and Newton native Damian Woetzel, along with members of the Silk Road Ensemble, performed at Orchard Gardens K-8 Pilot School Thursday.
