Who says bureaucrats are boring. Singer James Taylor, along with wife Kim, and BSO cellist Owen Young, performed Christmas carols at a State Department holiday party in D.C. this week. But the best part is that JT was specially invited by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who, alas, had to miss the event because she’s recovering from a concussion. We’re told the party is an annual tradition for families of State Department employees serving in countries too dangerous to visit. Taylor performed again the next day at a holiday reception for foreign ambassadors to the United States, and President Obama attended. (We’re told he called the “Country Road” crooner a member of his “staff” due to the huge number of Obama fund-raisers Taylor played before the election.) Meanwhile in Lenox, the Taylor twins, Henry and Rufus, are busy performing “A Christmas Carol” at the Berkshire Theatre in Pittsfield.
