While in town for a show Saturday at the Wilbur Theatre, Janeane Garofalo stopped by the offices of RadioBDC — Boston.com’s online radio station — and waxed not-so-nostalgically about her time in the Hub. (The comedian/actress/activist attended Providence College and later worked as a bike messenger in Boston.) One thing we did learn Friday: Garofalo is a big fan of a certain ice cream shop. “I always go to Emack & Bolio’s, the one on the way to the Common. . . . Not on Newbury St. The smaller Emack & Bolio’s,” she said. Back in the day, Garofalo also spent a lot of time at the Garage in Harvard Square — specifically at Newbury Comics, which is still there, and at Baby Watson, which is not. Other of her haunts that are gone but not forgotten include the Catch a Rising Star comedy club, a thrift shop called Luna’s, and Bread & Circus. . . . Meanwhile, celebrated statistician and political prognosticator Nate Silver — he of Five Thirty Eight fame — spoke at MIT Thursday and had a few harsh words for political pundits, saying they are “terrible at what they do.” He’s right again.
