Rehearsals for Friday’s “Banned in Boston” show have begun in earnest, and we know because former governor Bill Weld and “Car Talk” cohost Ray Magliozzi showed up dressed like cardinals, wearing black cassocks. The theme of this year’s show — an annual fund-raiser for Urban Improv’s anti-violence workshops — is “Downtown Crossing Abbey.” Get it? Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton , who’s taken part in the show for 20 years, plays Bates and NECN’s Jenny Johnson is Lady Mary. Tickets to “Banned in Boston” at the House of Blues are still available.
