The Jackie Robinson Foundation hosted a private screening of “42” in New York this week, and the director, former New Bedford fisherman Brian Helgeland, was there, along with Robinson’s widow, Rachel, the couple’s son David and daughter Sharon, and Branch Barrett Rickey, the grandson of Branch Rickey, the LA Dodgers executive who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson.
