After such underwhelming fare as “Get Smart,” “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World,” and “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone,” Steve Carell could use a hit right about now. And, judging from the just-released trailer, he may have one with “The Way, Way Back.” The comedy, which was filmed last summer in and around the actor’s native Marshfield, stars Carell, Sam Rockwell, Toni Collette, Maya Rudolph, and Allison Janney. A fan favorite at the Sundance Film Festival, “The Way, Way Back” was co-written and co-directed by Manchester by the Sea native Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, who won an Oscar for their screenplay for “The Descendants.”
