“Gangnam Style” sensation PSY visited Harvard Thursday, regaling students about what it’s like to become an international phenomenon practically overnight. “I’m not here to make something academic or educational,” he told the audience at Harvard’s Memorial Church, “I’m here to talk about my experience.” That he did, chatting about growing up in South Korea where he was expected to go into a “semi-conductor equipment thing,” to attending Boston University, to becoming a pop singer and producer, to releasing “Gangnam Style” — the most watched YouTube video of all time. (That’s 1.6 billion views, for those keeping count.)
