In early April, Matt Gatsas, president of Sovereign Stable in Manchester, N.H., bought a 2-year-old colt at auction. It was a handsome horse, but it didn’t have a name. Days later, after the Boston Marathon bombings, the slogan “Boston Strong” was born and Gatsas got an idea. Gatsas, a native New Englander, made a $1,000 donation to the One Fund and also pledged to donate 5 percent of any of the horse’s on-track earnings to the fund. We’re told the colt
is being prepped by trainer John Terranova II and could make his first start this summer at Saratoga.
