Seventy-six-year-old Dick Cavett was one of the big names at the Nantucket Comedy Festival over the weekend. The former talk show host, who also wrote for “The Tonight Show,” was featured on a Comedy Writers Room panel with actor and “Shameless” writer-producer Mike O’Malley, “Simpsons” writer-producer Mike Reiss, and Donick Cary, also of “The Simpsons” and, more recently, “New Girl.” Other funny people at the festival — which benefits Stand Up & Learn, a program that helps kids build confidence through comedy and creative writing — included local funny lady Patty Ross, who recently played Drunk Woman in the Boston comedy “The Heat” with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.
