Obamas spend a quiet day on the Vineyard as Sasha and Malia arrive

As sometimes happens when presidents go on vacation, world events intervened Thursday, forcing President Obama to rearrange his schedule and don a white shirt and blue blazer to address reporters outside his Martha’s Vineyard rental.

But no sooner had Obama made a statement about the turmoil in Egypt than his motorcade was on the move, headed to the nine-hole Mink Meadows Golf Club in Vineyard Haven for a round of golf with White House staffers Marvin Nicholson and Mike Brush, and White House chef Sam Kass.

And that was it, with the president and first lady Michelle Obama spending the rest of the day quietly out of sight with daughters Sasha and Malia, who arrived on the island Thursday.
