Matthew Quick is headed to the movies again
Massachusetts author Matthew Quick, whose novel “The Silver Linings Playbook” became David O. Russell’s Oscar hit, has another movie deal. His young adult novel “Sorta Like a Rock Star,” which is about a teenager who lives in a bus, was picked up by Fox Searchlight, says Deadline.com, and will be produced by a number of heavy hitters including Wyck Godfrey (“Twilight”) and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (“The Spiderwick Chronicles”). Those who saw or read “Silver Linings Playbook” know that Quick (inset) has roots in New Jersey and Philly, but he now lives with his writer-musician wife, Alicia Bessette, in Holden. Quick’s latest book is the young adult offering “Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock.” The Weinstein Company optioned that book in April.
