One of the many awkward moments during the MTV Video Music Awards involved former Celtic Jason Collins and rapper A$AP Rocky, who introduced Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s performance of the gay rights anthem “Same Love.” Collins made a short speech about his grandmother’s reaction to him coming out, and told the VMA audience that “the only way things change is if you stand up for what you believe in.” A$SAP followed that statement by yelling about his friend A$AP Ferg’s new album. At least the two shook hands at the end. Also in the VMA crowd was Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who’s expected to be in Boston this week for screenings of his new movie “Don Jon,” and Stoughton native and “Footloose” star Kenny Wormald, who danced backup for Justin Timberlake.
