Justin Timberlake wants to play the Riddler
Add Justin Timberlake to the list of people who think Ben Affleck will be just fine as Batman in the “Man of Steel” sequel, “Batman vs. Superman.” Timberlake told Fresh 102.7’s “Jim & Kim” that Affleck, with whom he worked in the soon-to-be-released film “Runner Runner,” was a good choice to play the Caped Crusader. “I think he’s an extreme talent, so he could surprise a lot of people,” said Timberlake. JT also revealed that he’d like to be in the movie, but not as Batman’s sidekick Robin. Instead, he wants to play Batman nemesis the Riddler. “Not a chance in hell. I ain’t playing Robin,” said Timberlake. “I have no aspiration to ever be a superhero in a movie. Now, a villain. I’ll tell you the villain I want to play more than anything because I grew up loving Batman, funnily enough, is the Riddler. . . . The Riddler was like a sociopath. He was proper crazy. So if I’m gonna play crazy, I wanna play proper crazy.” As any self-respecting Batman fan knows, the Riddler was last played by Jim Carrey in 1995’s “Batman Forever,” with Val Kilmer playing Batman. . . . The Massachusetts Film Office has confirmed something we told you weeks ago: Director Lisa Cholodenko will be setting up shop on the North Shore soon to shoot the HBO miniseries “Olive Kitteridge,” based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Elizabeth Strout. (The story about a seemingly placid New England town wrought with illicit affairs, crime, and tragedy is told through the lens of Olive.) The four-part drama will star Frances McDormand as Olive and Richard Jenkins as her husband, Henry Kitteridge.
