If anyone wondered why “Orange Is the New Black” was mentioned at the Emmys but not nominated, it’s because the show — which is based on the memoir by former Northampton resident Piper Kerman — won’t be eligible until next year. Wayland and West Roxbury’s Taylor Schilling, who stars in the Netflix drama, did attend the awards show in a white gown by Thakoon.
