Throwing a non-baseball party during the World Series was not a wise move, but the planners over at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center got lucky because their annual “Thank You Party” fell on a night when no game was scheduled. So folks who came got to see the typical splash put on by Bryan Rafanelli, who pulled out all his tricks to shine up the old Stuart Theater inside the Revere Hotel. Boldface philanthropists who showed included Roberta Weiner, Ted Cutler and son Joel, Lois Silverman Yashar, and 100-year-old Carl Shapiro. Music came from Judith Hill, the former backup singer and protégé of Michael Jackson and onetime contestant on NBC’s “The Voice.” (She has since signed a deal with Sony Music.) The event celebrated the hospital’s State-of-the-Art Humanity campaign, which has surpassed its goal of raising $300 million.
