Tom Brady invites bullied Bridgewater boy to Gillette
Sunday’s soggy conditions — OK, torrential downpour — didn’t dissuade 6-year-old Danny Keefe and 11-year-old Tommy Cooney from attending the Pats-Bills game at Gillette Stadium. The Bridgewater boys were on a recent episode of Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show, where they spoke about bullying. Danny, who was born with a brain hemorrhage, had been teased because of the way he speaks and his habit of wearing a suit and tie, and his buddy Tommy defended him, organizing “Danny Appreciation Day.” During their appearance on “Ellen,” Pats QB Tom Brady sent a videotaped message inviting the boys to the game against the Bills, and offering this bit of advice: “Danny, people still tease me about what I wear, but I never listen to them. So keep wearing what makes you feel best. And Tommy, I love your leadership and how you stood up for Danny.” Pats owner Robert Kraft also invited the boys’ peewee football team, the Bridgewater Badgers, to visit the Hall at Patriot Place.
