Considering “Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn used to be a TV critic for Entertainment Weekly, we should not be surprised that the magazine got an exclusive cover featuring the stars of the movie that is based on Flynn’s book. The somewhat unsettling image, shot by director David Fincher, shows Ben Affleck, who plays Nick Dunne, spooning with his wife, played by Rosamund Pike. Fincher, whose credits include “The Social Network,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Zodiac,” and “Fight Club,” has demonstrated a fondness for what some might call unconventional characters. Clearly, that continues with “Gone Girl.” “I don’t know what ‘likable’ is,” the director told EW. “I know people who are doting parents, who give to charity, drive Priuses, all those things, who are insufferable [expletives]. I like people who get [expletive] done.”
