Amy Poehler talks new ‘SNL’ faces

As a founding member of Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), Amy Poehler was excited to hear that another alumna of the sketch comedy troupe was recently hired as a featured player at “Saturday Night Live.” Sasheer Zamata will make her debut this Saturday, and Poehler sung her praises to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Calif. (Poehler was at the press tour before hosting the Golden Globes to promote “Broad City,” a new comedy she is producing on MTV2.) “I recently did an interview where they misquoted me out of context as if I passed to respond on Sasheer’s hiring, but I had done that interview many weeks ago. And I have not [had] a chance to say congratulations officially to her. We all know Sasheer and her work,” said the Burlington native and “Parks and Recreation” star. “And UCB is really proud to be associated with her. She was part of our diversity program many years ago and she’s an awesome performer and so congratulations to her.” Poehler also extended congratulations to the two new writers hired by the show, LeKendra Tookes and
Leslie Jones.
