A belated shout-out to Belmont resident Avery Griffin of Roomful of Teeth, the a cappella group that was nominated for three Grammy Awards and won one. (At Sunday’s star-studded show, the group walked away with the Grammy for best chamber ensemble.) In addition to Roomful of Teeth, Griffin (inset) is a member of NotaRiotous, the chamber ensemble of the Boston Microtonal Society, and Toby Twining Music, which promotes the music of Toby Twining. (Google him.) Griffin began his music studies at age 5 at Belmont’s Powers Music School and eventually graduated from BU’s School of Fine Arts. Roomful of Teeth, which was founded by Williams College professor Brad Wells, is dedicated to “mining the expressive potential of the human voice.”
