The Boston Symphony Orchestra may be breathing a sigh of relief. Italian maestro Daniele Gatti, who was considered a prime candidate for the BSO music director post before Andris Nelsons was hired, has canceled all of his professional engagements for the next two months, including performances with the BSO in April, on the advice of his doctors. No word on what is ailing Gatti.
