‘Pretty Old,’ documentary about Fall River seniors pageant, get digital release

“Pretty Old,” an award-winning documentary that features contestants in Massachusetts’s 30th annual Ms. Senior Sweetheart Pageant as they prepare for and compete in the Fall River event, will be released on iTunes and Direct TV, beginning today. The film, produced and directed by Walter Matteson, won the Jury Award for best documentary at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and played to sold-out crowds and rave reviews at the Nantucket Film Festival, Woodstock Film Festival, and others. Sarah Jessica Parker is an executive producer. The film follows four women and explores their motivations, talents, and struggles with the pageant, and life. “With ‘Pretty Old,’ we are trying to show people that being and growing ‘old’ can be absolutely beautiful,” said Matteson.
