The Miss Massachusetts United States pageant took over the Revere Hotel’s Theatre 1 on Sunday night. The night’s winners were Renata De Carvalho, who was crowned Miss Massachusetts United States 2014, and Alicia Watkins, who won the title Ms. Massachusetts United States. In case you’re wondering, the “Miss” title is for never-been married women, ages 20 to 29. The “Ms.” title is for single women, ages 25 to 45. Also crowned during the night was Peabody’s Olivia Silva, who was named honorary “Little Miss Massachusetts.” Olivia, 5, has had multiple surgeries for a brain tumor. The Family Research Foundation, which provides support for families dealing with cancer, worked with the pageant to plan this surprise part of the program.
