‘Miserable’ Miley Cyrus mourns her pet during Boston soundcheck

Miley Cyrus was a no-show at KISS 108’s annual Jingle Ball concert in December, but she made up for it Wednesday. The singer, who missed Jingle Ball because of bad weather in the Big Apple, invited thousands of Smilers — the not-so-clever nickname given to her adoring acolytes — to attend the afternoon soundcheck before her sold-out show at TD Garden. Cyrus wept to the crowd and explained that she’s “devastated” by the death this week of her pet pooch Floyd, an Alaskan Klee Kai she’d had since 2011. She performed a lineup of emotional songs — including Bob Dylan’s “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” and Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness” — before disappearing to prepare for Wednesday’s main event. She had tweeted to fans about her grief before taking the stage. “This is the 3rd worst day of my life. I am beyond miserable,” she wrote Wednesday afternoon. “what you don’t understand is he’s not in a better place. the best place he could be was with me . . . where he was loved more than anything.”
