Spring gala shopping began in earnest Thursday morning at Barneys New York at Copley Place where Corinne Grousbeck hosted a style primer for friends and supporters of Perkins School for the Blind. “On your mark, get set, go!” said Grousbeck, after Barneys fashion ambassadors Simon Doonan and Tomoko Ogura instructed the audience on trends (plastic in shoes, the mini bag). “It’s been a grueling winter,” said the ever-cheeky Doonan. “Talk about needing a vat of Sancerre.”
