Maria Menounos gets real on ‘Chasing Maria Menounos’

Because the TV landscape is crowded with reality series that don’t seem terribly real, Maria Menounos says she aims for “raw and authentic” on her show “Chasing Maria Menounos.” “Integrity is everything to me,” says Menounos, who grew up in Medford and attended Emerson before moving to LA. On this week’s episode, airing Tuesday on Oxygen, that means returning to Boston with her longtime boyfriend Keven Undergaro and visiting scenes from her humble beginnings. “When [expletive] got real with my family, Kev and I ended up in the basement of what was, basically, a halfway house,” says Menounos, who was 20 years old at the time. “It was very emotional to go back.” While we had her on the phone, we asked Menounos about the rumors that she’s done as cohost of “Extra.” (According to some gossip sites, she’s leaving because of a rift with cohost Mario Lopez.) “My dad raised me to be classy and be as respectful as possible,” she replied, declining to say if she’s leaving the show. “Whoever is behind those rumours, that’s their bad and their karma to deal with. I’m not concerned about my future. I’m very excited about my future.”
