One of three concepts
  • Twin towers of open lattice rise above and around the World Trade Center footprints without touching them.

  • Cultural amenities include a conference center, a performing arts center, an open amphitheater, and educational space.

  • Eight midrise office buildings with a total of 8.5 million sq. ft.

  • Large reflecting pools around both towers double as skylights for retail and transit space below.

  • Memorial: Sept. 11 museum fitted into lattice in the space where the planes hit.

  • Gardens of the World
    Studio Daniel Libeskind
  • Glass spire rising 1,776 feet high houses the ''Gardens of the World.''

  • Office towers, underground malls and street level shops, hotels, a performing arts center and restaurants would also be included in the site.

  • Transportation Center brings Lower Manhattan the central facilities that exist in Midtown.

  • Memorial: A ''Heroes Matrix'' shows the paths and names of rescuers on Sept. 11. The ''Wedge of Light'' casts no shadows from 8:46 a.m., when the first airplane hit and 10:28 a.m., when the second tower collapsed.
