[an error occurred while processing this directive] Statement from Jewish Community Relations Council

12/13/02

Statement from Nancy K. Kaufman, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston:

Cardinal Law was deeply committed to deepening the understanding between Catholics and Jews and worked tirelessly toward this goal. From his trip to Auschwitz in the late 80s to his dedication of a Holocaust Menorah at St. John's Seminary in September, he never backed away from urging us all to remember the past and use it as a guide to building a better future. We all have been saddened by the revelations of the sex-abuse scandal and its impact on the victims and their families. We hope that Cardinal Law's resignation allows for healing, reconciliation and a recommitment by the Archdiocese to promoting the values shared by our Judeo-Christian tradition.
