[an error occurred while processing this directive] Statement by the Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis

12/13/02

Statement by Archbishop Harry J. Flynn of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis:

Cardinal Law has acted forthrightly and contritely in offering his resignation to the Holy Father. Let us all pray that this is another step, along with the new U.S. Bishops' Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, that will advance the healing from this tragic chapter in the history of the Catholic Church in America. As leaders of the Church, it is our solemn duty to enforce the Charter, restore trust and assure that no child, young person or vulnerable adult is ever put in harm’s way again.

My prayers remain with the victims of abuse and their families, Cardinal Law, and all the people of the Archdiocese of Boston during this trying time.
