Statement by the Executive Director of St. Anthony Shrine
12/13/02
Statement by Fr. David Convertino, Guardian and Executive Director of St. Anthony Shrine, on Cardinal Law's resignation: The Franciscan tradition of St. Anthony Shrine has always been that of reconciliation and compassion. In a special way today, the Franciscan Friars and Staff of the Shrine bring to you, our prayers, our presence and our solid belief in the future of the Church of Boston. As Cardinal Law resigns, we will continue to pray for him and the entire Catholic community of Boston, especially those who have been victimized by the clergy. As the Friars have done since we came to the great city of Boston, we continue to offer to all who come here, compassion, understanding, and healing. We vividly remember and strive to live out the call of St. Francis to all of us: "We are called to heal wounds, unite what has fallen apart, and bring home those who have lost their way." Let us go forward together with this in our hearts. |
