Save us (again), Pedro
A second close loss to the Yankees has put the Red Sox in quite a hole. Or maybe we have 'em right where we want 'em. Just ask the Indians what happens when you go two games up on the Sox.
Can Pedro Martinez save the season, or are we pretty much done with baseball in Boston for the century?

Ok everyone, let's look at this realistically. We are far from dead and buried. We took 5 in a row from the Yankees during the regular season I think we can take 3 in a row at Fenway. We have the best pitcher in the last 25 years going for us tomorrow and then we have Saberhagen going Sunday. Saberhagen has pitched very well against the Yankees this year and thers is no reason to believe he won't throw another great game against them. Maybe we get some rain for game 5 on Monday and it's moved up to Tuesday. That would mean Ramon Martinez working game 5 on on Tuesday. It's really not as bleak as all the sportwriters would lead you to believe. A win tomorrow and we are right back in this Series. I'll be in the bleachers on Sunday night watching the Sox tie the Series at 2 games apiece. This team has proven over and over how they refuse to give up....let's not give up on them now. BELIEVE !!!!!

This is a classic tv ratings fix. Both the Sox and the Mets are down 2 games. They will both come back to win their series thus there will be a World Series rematch between the Sox and the Mets. This will result in enormous ratings for Fox. Television controls everything.

Don't go for the sharp objects just yet...
Yes, it's tough they are down 2-0, and yes they could have won both, and yes it would have been nice to see a split. But remember....
These guys aren't even suppose to be here....If somebody told me that you could have a Sox/Yankees ALCS, but the Sox have to start off down 0-2; I would still take that over a date with Elizabeth Hurley. (Yes girls, guys do think she's hot)
I don't want to sound like a laid back Californian, but we as Sox fans have reached a new level after the Cleveland series. There is to be no more angst and worry. That's just what fans in New York want us to be like.
Remember, the Yankees are now the team with that head case Clemens. The Yankees are now the team that has Don Zimmer. And Yankee fans are the people that may have to deal with the term "Senator Hillary".
So it's time for New Englanders to finally relax, crank up the Salsa music, and start waving those Dominican Flags.
On to Game 3...

Yankees win in 5 or 6, sweep if they beat Pedro. But great games to watch and the history of the series is bursting out all over. Randolph, Zimmer, Chambliss. 1978 was a very good year.

I think the Sox can definately win tomorrow, but the question is can Saberhagen and Merker pitch quality games. I believe!!!

Ok Heather from Natick - you say that NY is all that..hello the Jets are 1-4. hmmm that doesn't sound like the best team to me. I know this site is about the Red Sox, but I just had to let you know that your wrong! And to all you Yankee fans - chill out with your insults - although you probably don't have the intelligence for anything else. You may be up 2-0, but there's 5 games left - step aside!

I hate the way everyone (especially the media) jump on and off the bandwagon. All "the experts" said the Sox would finish fourth in the AL east. All "the experts" said at some time or another in the Wild Card chase that the Sox would choke and lose it. All "the experts" said the Sox would never beat Cleveland and in fact would be 3-0. Instead they are the only team to recover to win 3-2 on the road. Oh yes and I know "the experts" are writing the Sox off now that they are 2 down. Well I hope "the experts" and the fair weather fans and bandwagon jumpers stay well and truly OFF the bandwagon when the Sox start hitting and win this in game 7 4-3.

It looks like a loss in 6 or 7 after winning two of three in Boston and a 40/60 chance at the first game in NY. But remember this year you got more than you should have in stead of less. It still will hurt just as much though. For consilation follow Boston's five time defending national champion "Death or Glory" and four time defending national champion "Lady Godiva" at the UPA Ultimate Disc Championships on Halloween weakend.
