BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) — Extra school security will remain in place for the rest of the week in Brattleboro area schools as officials continue to manage the fallout from a possible security threat.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports (bit.ly/TWqvqt) Ron Stahley, Windham Southeast Supervisory Union superintendent, said police patrols and locked exterior doors still are considered necessary after consulting with law enforcement.

Officials have not revealed the exact nature of their security concerns, though they have said there was no specific threat against any school.

Town officials were notified last Friday that a person, who had previously made nonspecific threats involving school age people, might be returning to the area.

Representatives from the police, fire department and the town met to develop a plan.
