EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island State Police say no criminal charges will be filed in connection with a three-car accident in East Greenwich that killed a 23-year-old pregnant woman.

Authorities said Tuesday that 24-year-old Benjamin Servideo of Newport won’t face criminal charges. He’s facing several traffic charges.

The crash on Route 4 in September killed Sullynette Sanchez, of Providence, who worked in the admissions office at the University of Rhode Island. Her baby was delivered after the accident but later died as well.

Authorities said drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, but they did not immediately give a cause. Police had said earlier that Servideo may have been distracted after his wallet fell to the floor.

A state police spokesman could not immediately be reached.end of story marker
