WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — About three dozen Rhode Island students and their families have received free help completing applications for federal college financial aid and explanation of what is available to them.

U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin joined financial aid professionals on Saturday to help college-bound students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

The form is required for students seeking federal education grants and loans nationwide. Rhode Island residents must also complete the form to determine eligibility for state grants.

Saturday’s session is the last in the seven College Goal Rhode Island events, which are part of the national College Goal Sunday program sponsored by the Rhode Island Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Rhode Island Student Loan Authority, USA Funds and Lumina Foundation for Education. The events have helped more than 150 students complete their applications.end of story marker
