Eugene Isenberg, Chelsea native-turned-Texas-oilman, gave his alma mater $6 million in 1996 — the largest donation in the school’s history at the time — and UMass repaid the favor by affixing his name to its school of management. The bulk of the money helped fund an addition to the school’s main management building, and Isenberg continues to support various scholarships at the school.
