Stand for Children - a group that arrived in Massachusetts less than a decade ago - is on the brink of pulling off a major coup: using hardball tactics to compel the state’s major teachers union to give up some of its cherished seniority rights. The group’s success in confronting the formidable power of teachers unions has made it a national and polarizing player in the battle over education policy.
