Hampshire College has selected the leader of an environmental think tank to become its next president, the school said yesterday. Jonathan Lash, president of World Resources Institute since 1993, will take the position July 15, replacing acting president Marlene Gerber Fried. Lash was cochairman of President Clinton’s Council on Sustainable Development and helped create the US Climate Action Partnership. Previously, Lash was director of the Vermont Law School’s Environmental Law Center and secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources.
