Boston U. beats Maine, 5-1 in men's hockey

ORONO, Maine—The University of Maine fell below the .500 mark as Boston University defeated the Black Bears 5-1 in a Hockey East game.

The Terriers scored four third-period goals to break a 1-1 tie and defeat Maine on Saturday night at Alfond Arena on Orono.

The loss ended Maine's three-game winning streak and left the Black Bears at 6-7-2 on the season and 5-6-1 in Hockey East play. Eleventh-ranked BU improves to 10-5-1 on the season and 8-4-1 in conference play.

Maine returns to action Dec. 29 when it faces Clarkson in the Florida College Classic.
