Colleges are gearing up for a fight over the use of racial preferences in admissions as the Supreme Court prepares to consider the constitutionality of the practice for the second time in a decade. Though arguments will not begin before October, schools are already scrambling to figure out what a ruling might mean for them, and some are preparing amicus briefs. A decision against any form affirmative action could throw existing policies at almost all universities into question.
