BOSTON—The president of the University of Massachusetts is expected to announce his recommendation for chancellor of the Amherst campus.

President Robert Caret is scheduled to name his selection Monday in Boston at a special meeting of the Board of Trustees. The board will then vote on that recommendation.

The new chancellor is expected to visit campus Tuesday.

The finalists recommended by a search committee are: Sona Karentz Andrews, a geographer and Massachusetts native who is currently vice chancellor for academic strategies in the Oregon University system; Carlos Santiago, an economist and chief executive of the Hispanic College Fund in Washington; and Kumble Subbaswamy, a physicist who is provost of the University of Kentucky. A fourth finalist withdrew her name.

Current Chancellor Robert Holub is stepping down.
